This is the last tour in our 2025 Giving Challenge global research series, funded by IWMF's Accelerate the Cure campaign. Our Giving Challenge is your passport to a World without Waldenstrom's.
Today, Paul Kitchen joins Dr. Steven Treon at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, on Dr. Jan Waldenström's birthday—our Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia World Awareness Day. Paul stepped into the lab saying: "My mother died of Waldenstrom's (WM) and never met anyone else with the disease. With IWMF, I am never alone. I am experiencing my 5th WM treatment, and I am hopeful and positive about life, as I just joined a promising clinical trial. This global tour has meant so much to me, as I witness researchers working hard on our behalf. Our research is dependent upon funding from our generous donors. Let's give and gather those who love us to accelerate the cure."
All IWMF research projects are selected by a global committee of experts who define the research pillars leading to a WM cure. IWMF has currently invested US $16 million in 46 research projects, and high-priority projects are in line for funding decisions in late May.
Join Paul and the IWMF news correspondent as they sneak a peek at WM research beginnings through where we are today.
